The biggest boost to a children’s self- esteem comes, not from being told what beautiful eyes they have, but rather from the feeling that they are valuable and contributing members of their family. When you are working, let them help! While you are cleaning up the lawn for spring…give the children bags so they can pick up sticks and debris from the yard. If it is warm enough, they would enjoy scrubbing lawn furniture or patios. If you are doing some painting and grandma is too busy to take the kids, give them a bucket of water and some paint brushes to paint the driveway. It should keep them busy for a long time. Buy tomato plants for the children to plant. Mulch around them so you don’t have to weed. If you stake them, you can put them in a flower bed, they don’t look unattractive and they will taste so good!
